A home for art.
After the 1990s, the villa became an artistic shelter connected with the Durrës Art Gallery - another chapter built around culture and gathering.
DISTILLERYGASTROPUB
Since 1999 · Durrës · History & place
Before it became Distillery, this address had already lived several lives.
The building
Near the home of Mantho Jorgji once stood the Jallisë Gate - the entrance through which the city met the sea.
The nearby two-storey villa carried that maritime identity into its architecture. Shells set into its tall façade shimmered in the sunlight, adding a distinctive detail to the building’s neoclassical character.

The Jallisë Gate
Durrës has always looked outward to the Adriatic. The old gate and the shell-detailed façade preserve a small part of that relationship between the city, its architecture and the water.
After the 1990s, the villa became an artistic shelter connected with the Durrës Art Gallery - another chapter built around culture and gathering.

Today the historic setting lives again as Distillery Gastropub: a meeting place for food, cocktails, music and the rhythm of Bulevardi Epidamn.
Past meets present
Its purpose has changed, but the idea remains familiar: a place where Durrës comes together.
